Community support

Out in the community support
At Colourful Minds, we understand that many challenges children face don’t just happen at home or school—they often occur out in the community. That’s why we offer flexible, real-world support in everyday settings such as parks, supermarkets, playgroups, or during sports activities.
Community-based support allows us to work with your child in the environments where they may experience big emotions, difficulties with transitions, or social challenges. These sessions are ideal for helping children practise the skills they’ve developed during home or school-based therapy—such as emotional regulation, communication, and problem-solving—while still having the support of a trusted therapist.
Community sessions are particularly helpful for:
Managing big emotions or meltdowns in busy or stimulating settings
Supporting transitions between activities or locations (e.g., leaving the playground)
Addressing absconding behaviours or difficulties staying safe in public spaces
Building social skills in real-life interactions
Providing parenting coaching on the spot, in the moment
Helping children apply goals and strategies in everyday life
This type of support helps bridge the gap between therapy and the real world—making the strategies more meaningful and easier for your child (and your family) to use every day.
At Colourful Minds, we tailor our support to suit your child and family. We offer a combination of in-home, in-clinic, school, community, and telehealth sessions—so you receive the help you need, where and when it matters most.
